How to Get Here

Our Wilderness Island Resort is 206 miles/337 km north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, in the north end of Lake Wabatongushi, and in the southwest corner of the Chapleau Game Preserve, the world’s largest wildlife sanctuary.

Follow the scenic Lake Superior Coast on the Trans Canada Highway (Hwy 17 North) from Sault Ste. Marie (142 miles/229 km) north to Wawa, one of the most spectacular drives in Canada. From Wawa travel (12 miles/19 km) east on Chapleau Highway 101, then 4 miles/6.5 km north on Highway 547 to Hawk Junction. Our resort is a 20-minute float plane from Hawk Junction right to our main dock. Float planes charters give much more flexibility for timing your vacation as well as the extra adventure of viewing at our boreal forest and occasional wildlife from the air.
